WorldFlight 2024

Team JeeHell A320 will once again participate in WorldFlight. This will be our third year joining this charity event. Last year our team was able to raise more than $1,600 across the two charities we supported.

WorldFlight is an annual virtual flight around the world raising money for charity. Teams from various countries join this event using their full-size cockpit simulators. WorldFlight has seen a number of different aircrafts represented, including Boeing 737s and 747s, as well as Airbus A320s and A330s.

Virtual Air Traffic Control (ATC) is provided for the flights by VATSIM members around the world and also from the dedicated WorldFlight ATC center located at Chipping Norton in Sydney, Australia. The flights will take seven days to complete and are operated in real time as a regular airline would. Forty five minute turnarounds are scheduled after each sector to allow for crew briefing and cockpit preparation for the next sector. During the seven days the flights will visit more than 40 airports and cover some 43,000 nm.

WorldFlight is a charity event for virtual pilots taking place over a week on the VATSIM network.

Käpt’n Romeo’s cockpit is built as a closed shell from a Vier Im Pott MIP with Skalarki panels, pedestal, and overhead. Other elements include two jumpseats, self-made out of wood, MDF,  PVC, Xyltech panels, and acrylic windows. Seats are old ISRI 5000 used by the German army. Three projectors provide a 220 degrees view on a curved screen with 4m diameter.

Captain Mike Delta’s cockpit is a self-built wood structure with panels from Skalarki and a 160 degrees screen, also made of wood and self constructed. The setup is FO focused and uses four computers, three monitors, one iPad, and two short-throw projectors. After five years of experimenting, building, re-building, and optimizing, the simulator is now completed and running smoothly.

Captain Pero’s cockpit is based on Skalarki hardware, a self-built wooden shell, and some nice features like a working icing indicator. The forward view is realized with a short-throw projector. The A320 cockpit is fully functional as a fixed base dual seater.

Captain Tango’s cockpit uses Vier Im Pott elements, Skalarki electronics, and OpenCockpits seats. It is an “open frame” design with three large 4K TVs offering a 180 degrees external view. The captain and first officer instruments run on two dedicated computers.

Corporate Angel Network

Corporate Angel Network (CAN) is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to help cancer patients access the best treatment centers by arranging free travel on corporate aircrafts. Business jet travel makes it possible for patients, especially those in locations with minimal airline access, to travel to specialized medical centers. Whether a patient is traveling for surgery, clinical trial, or a second opinion, CAN aims to reduce a patient’s physical, emotional and financial stress by providing a seat on a corporate flight.

Participation is open to all cancer patients, as well as bone marrow and stem cell donors and recipients, who are ambulatory and do not require medical assistance while traveling. Eligibility is not based on financial need, and patients may travel as often as necessary.
